چکیده

Background The electrocardiogram (ECG) is often used as initial test to detect or rule out previous myocardial infarction (MI). Although different ECG-criteria with considerable heterogeneity are used for this purpose, their accuracy is not well described. We aimed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of four commonly used ECG-criteria for detecting previous MI: 1) the universal definition of previous MI, 2) the Minnesota ECG-code (MC), 3) the Selvester QRS-score, and 4) assessment by cardiologists, using delayed-enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (DE-CMR) as reference standard. Also the effect of different ECG and infarct characteristics on detecting previous MI were evaluated.

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Unrecognized myocardial infarction by echocardiography in relation to infarct characteristics as assessed by cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging

Background Accurate recognition of myocardial infarction (MI) is important, because of the benefits of immediate and correct treatment. Despite being the method of choice, echocardiographic assessment of segmental wall motion abnormalities (SWMA) in MI can be difficult and depends on operator skills, experience, and image quality. The purpose of this study was to investigate the echocardiograph...

Electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy is not associated with increased in-hospital adverse events in patients experiencing first non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction: A single center study

Background: There is conflicting data about prognostic implication of electrocardiographic (ECG) left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in patients with first non- ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). We aimed to examine the association of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) on admission electrocardiogram with adverse outcomes in patients with NSTEMI. Methods: In the present study, ...

Comparison of Magnetic Resonance Imaging T2 Results in Beta-Thalassemia Patients Treated by Deferasirox or Combination of Deferoxamine and Deferiprone

Background: Iron extra load is an anticipated and lethal consequence of chronic blood transfusion in major beta-thalassemia patients; therefore it is necessary to use an efficient iron chelator drug to stimulate the evacuation of the surplus iron from the body. This trial was performed to compare myocardial and hepatic magnetic resonance imaging T2 (MRI T2*) results of beta-thalassemia patients...

Electrocardiographic Q-wave "remodeling" in reperfused ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: validation study with CMR.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the evolution in Q-wave expression during the first 5 years after a primary, successfully reperfused ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (MI), using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) for infarct location, and to depict changes in infarct size and left ventricular remodeling over time. BACKGROUND In the absence of QRS confounders, abnormal...
